Teaching News: Starting my 8th year at Clearview
High School in Ferndale, Washington.
My National Board Certification
Portfolio is in the mail and the 6
essay assessment test is done. I'll write more when this last two weeks is
humorous. Thanks to Susan Smith, Chris Perkins and my family and
friends for 'peace, love and understanding."
I've received 2 more grants: another $2500 Best Buy te@ch Award and $800 from the Bellingham Bay Rotary for memory upgrades for our lab computers, bringing my total in grants and matching funds over $25,000 in 5 years.
The Best Buy te@ch Award $ are purchasing a audio recording station, musical instruments and software for my A.M.P.S.
(Afternoon Music Production Seminar) program. I'm asking for volunteers
to help with A.M.P.S. and will be making a bid for support at the B.I.M.A. (Bellingham Independent Music Association) annual meeting at the Wild Buffalo on April 11th.
Current focus is an At-Risk Survey to define who our students are and what their needs are. WALA,
the Washington Association of Learning Alternatives, has granted
Clearview a $500 Original Research grant to create, implement and track
this survey. NAREN,
the National At Risk Education Network, has added a $250 Grant.
We hope to expand our counseling time and to provide the results to
other alternative schools.
I completed my Master's Degree in Technology in the
Classroom in an online program with Lesley
University. Please check out my E-Portfolio.
My goals for this
year are:
- To get and stay more organized and less chaotic.
- To improve my ability
to assess and teach reading skills.
- To complete our
school's computer network.
- To continue
developing the details and quantity of
my
online lesson plans.
- To use Easy Grade Pro/IMS for all my classes.
- To continue to
develop information in pursuit of grants.
- To finish my
National Board Certifaction process.
